Interesting population experiments abroad

Apparently Belgium is facing a sperm shortage. Yup, French lesbians, desperate for little ones, and unable to obtain sperm in France, are storming Belgian sperm banks. I'll keep all my thoughts on this one silent (there's just really nowhere to go intellectually for me without bashing headlong into one conviction or another), except for this: I find France's position surprising, given that I thought it had, for some years, been trying to increase French women's fertility to get its homegrown population to grow.
