What every woman should know

Heather, at From The Word Go brought to my attention a David Frum post, in which he asks if it's appropriate for a free society to ban burqas, and concludes that it is -- since the evidence shows that, once burqas become dominant in a community, all women are then forced to wear them. I'll just note, in passing, that one can frame it as a public health issue. I've always been under the impression that Bedouin women suffer from severe vitamin D deficiencies, which deform their borns and make child-birth very risky, because their burqas prevent them from getting any sunlight.
