And it's Dianne Feinstein, in a landslide
Here's the GOP making a sensible decision:
Looks like Sen. Dianne Feinstein is going to have a virtually free ride when she runs for re-election next year. It's money -- specifically, the unwillingness of Republicans to spend big money here in California -- that seems to be at the heart of the senator's good fortune. As GOP insiders explain it, mounting a serious campaign to unseat Feinstein could easily cost upward of $30 million, given the state's size and expensive media markets. On the other hand, spreading around the same money in less expensive states could make the difference in as many as five seats for the GOP, the party figures. Bottom line: Mounting a mega-campaign in California for one seat just doesn't justify the investment. At least DiFi doesn't make me gag the way Boxer does, although her performance at Roberts' confirmation hearings was pretty nauseating.
