Thomas Sowell comments on a problem I remember well from my school years: Public school systems that abandoned or exploited intelligent students. By the way, it's not that I"m such a great genius. The same school system also failed me miserably in math and science, weak subjects for me, by hewing so rigidly to the mandated curriculum, there was no time to stop and make sure everyone grasped foundational principles before moving on.
