Will Pres. Bush get any credit?
I'm no economist (oh, boy, am I no economist), but it seems to me that Bush's tax cuts have to get some credit for this good news:
The nation's economy churned out 274,00 jobs in April, the Labor Department reported today, many more than expected. The robust surge in employment, reflecting a positive outlook among employers about the immediate future, conflicted with other recent data suggesting a slowdown or 'soft patch' in the country's economic expansion. In fact, the Labor Department revised some of that data today, saying that 93,000 more jobs were created in February and March than previously reported. 'What soft patch?' said Steven Stanley, of Greenwich Capital Management, in a note to clients. 'After a weather-induced dip in job growth in March, hiring roared back in April. . . . The totality of this report is incredibly robust.'
