The San Francisco Board of Stupidvisors again works to shut down free speech
At Overlawyered, com, we get a great reminder about why we in the Bay Area call it the San Francisco Board of Stupidvisors:
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors will vote April 5 on a proposed campaign finance regulation that would define "electioneering communication" to include weblogs that receive more than 500 hits from San Francisco voters. There would be a disclosure requirement (that must be made in a 14-point typeface) and potential reporting requirements. (via Southern California Law Blog and Personal Democracy Forum). It's not surprising that S.F. is trying to do this, since liberals have a clear sense that it was the blogger's undermining of MSM lies that helped keep Kerry from the White House, but I do wonder where the cash-strapped San Francisco is going to get the money and the muscle to block this ridiculous attack on free speech.
