An unintentionally ironic salute to Dr. King

Found this great post over at LGF:

Debbie Schlussel exposes a disturbing radical Islamic tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr., featuring an essay contest open only to Arabs. And this isn’t in Yemen. While the rest of the nation celebrates King Day and King’s contributions to civil rights, a group of Islamists—who praise HAMAS homicide bombers and Hezbollah terrorists who murdered over 300 Americans—held a Martin Luther King, Jr. essay contest. The American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) of Michigan, headed by “former” Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terrorist, Imad Hamad, held the contest. ADC enlisted two prominent Detroit Black personalities to host the contest’s award ceremony, but their roles are merely servile. The essay contest is only open to Arabs. So much for King’s dream of the day his children, and the rest of us, to be “judged by the content of their character, not by the color of their skin.” If Imad Hamad and his ADC were judged by the content of their character, it would be a tough sell. ADC is one of the most anti-Israel, anti-Semitic organizations in America, today. And one of the most anti-American. While we are fighting terrorists within and abroad, the Saudi-funded ADC is the modern-day equivalent of the German-American Bund. It defends terrorists and fights for their rights in the courts and legislature. For years, ADC defended or ignored Sudan’s Arab Muslim gang-rape, torture, and genocidal murder of millions of Black Christians and Animists. What would Dr. King say about that?
There's more (which I urge you to read), but this gives you the flavor. I wonder how many other people are struck by the irony of a group that supports brutal violence to advance its goals sponsoring an essay writing context purporting to honor the man who, next to Ghandi, made morally-upstanding, passive resistance the most effective weapon in the world. And it's no use saying that the militants have to act militant for fear that the Israelis will kill them otherwise. Israel has made clear throughout her entire history that her goal is to act defensively, and not offensively -- a goal that is explained by the fact that, when her women, children and old people are killed, Israel retaliates, not by killing random women, children and old people, but by knocking down a house. I love my house. I would be devastated if my house were knocked down. But I'm not going to kid myself that a house is equivalent to a human life.
