Would our enemies do this?

I have not been following the trial, so do not know whether Graner acted rightly or wrongly in the context of a war. All I know is that, if he did, it is the act of a righteous nation that punishes its soldiers for cruelty off the battlefield to its enemies. From the WaPo:

Former Army prison guard Spec. Charles A. Graner Jr. was sentenced to 10 years in a military stockade Saturday for his role in abusing Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison, an episode that sparked a wave of anti-American indignation around the world last spring.
