Does this look silly?

I know I'm old-fashioned and rigid, but does this look silly (it's a wedding announcement in the Times)? I think it's also telling that the NY Times used this as the lead wedding announcement, highlighted on the front page of their Sunday blog. There's an agenda here, and it's not the same agenda operating in the Heartland.
