Uh, did you forget that it's yours now?
Here's a great lgf post. Apparently Palestinians, now that they are in possession of formerly Israeli settlements, promptly started setting fire to the buildings. As one of these brilliant men said, “They [Israelis] destroyed our homes and our mosques,” said a man who gave his name only as Abu Ahmed. “Today it is our turn to destroy theirs.” It seems not to have occurred to these geniuses that, since the handover, the buildings now belong to the Palestinians, who are burning their own property. Somehow, considering that the Palestinians are bravely burning their own property, it seems appropriate to tell this crude and cruel old joke: In 1973, a joke made the rounds in the Jewish community. Apparently the Israelis had figured out that at least one third of the Arab soldiers they were fighting were named "Ahmed." So the Israelis would get into position, and yell out, "Hey, Ahmed." Ahmed would immediately stand up in response to his name, and the Israelis would shoot him. The Arabs conducted a study, and determined that at least a third of the Israeli soldiers were named "David." The next day, all over the battle field, Arab soldiers got into position and yelled, "Hey, David." To which the Israelis would respond by asking, "Is that you, Ahmed?" And then Ahmed would immediately stand up in response to his name, and the Israelis would shoot him. I should note that I haven't told this joke in over thirty years, and I will never tell it again. It just seemed too apt here to let pass. UPDATE: Yet another example on LGF of Palestinians gleefully destroying what is now their own property.
