Keeping its eye on the ball
You've got to give the AFP (a French news agency) credit for keeping its eye on the ball. As Chrenkoff points out, this is the AFP's opening line in its report on Pres. Bush's paying his respects to the Pope:
US President George W. Bush knelt before the body of Pope John Paul II early today, paying homage in Saint Peter's Basilica to one of the leading critics of the US-led war on Iraq.Somehow I rather doubt that the war was the thought foremost in the President's mind as he knelt before the Pope's body.
