Mother Nature puts things in perspective
I know this is an absolutely correct scientific statement, but I actually have a problem grappling with the immensity of it all:
'All the planet is vibrating' from the quake, said Enzo Boschi, the head of Italy's National Geophysics Institute. Speaking on SKY TG24 TV, Boschi said the quake even disturbed the Earth's rotation."Can you believe that? It disturbed the earth's rotation! Given that, although it is scant consolation to the tens of thousands dead, and the hundreds of thousands affected, I guess we should all be grateful that its effects were not felt further. On the other hand, considering that it took almost two days for the tsunami to hit Africa, I may be giving thanks too soon.
