Boys have feelings, too. But who cares?

The caption to this article was one I saw on a girl tween's t-shirt about four years ago. At the time, I was holding in my arms my darling, sweet, living two year old son, and I was livid. It was not the first time, but it was one of the most vivid times, I had modern feminism stuffed in my face. It's not about equality, it's about whining and denigration. Apparently you can get large doses of that horrible, divisive mindset (plus a lot of obscenities) over at feministing.com. But why go there and get angry and depressed at the state of modern feminism? Much better to go to feministing.org, a parody website which has this as its stated goal:

Young, middle-class, college-educated white women are rarely given the opportunity to speak on our own behalf on issues that affect our lives and futures because we're so horribly and obviously oppressed. Feministing.org provides a platform for us to comment, analyze, whine about our unending victimization, and (best of all) COMPLAIN CEASELESSLY! And if you're a non-white visitor, then we're DESPERATE for you to post in our Comments section. If we don't obsessively conflate our lives with those of disadvantaged ethnic minorities, then readers might start to think we're a bunch of overindulged, priggish nutjobs who wouldn't recognize real hardship if it were to ever bite our sheltered little white-girl asses.
The humor is a little crude and a little rude (the parody complaining about the gender discrimination against the bad, bawdy female camp guards at Auschwitz is incredibly funny at a feminist-baiting level, but uncomfortable if you're Jewish), but is so pointed and aware, that it's really worth checking out.
