Warning -- dangerous contortionist on the left

They're having conceptual problems over at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Weblog. The problem? The recent Pew polls showing that, in predominantly Muslim countries, supporting for terrorism is dropping. The DCCC knows that those supporting Bush policies will take credit for this, but is quick to point out that these same countries don't like Bush. Frankly, I'm not too thrilled about the surgeon who cuts into me, but I'm smart enough to appreciate that he's what I need when I'm sick. This point seems too subtle for the DCCC blogger, so here's the rather anguished approach to the numbers: The numbers actually reflect, not Bush's doctrine, but the fact that Bin Laden and Zarqawi, by condeming Democracy, disgusted people in Muslim countries, and their disgust is the beginning and the end of the poll numbers:

Point being that there is a battle for hearts and minds, and while international polls on support of President Bush indicate that he is not doing a great deal to win it at the moment, this poll shows that Islamist extremists are doing even worse. Read Kevin Drum for the specifics.
Clearly, you don't have to have studied ancient philosophies to practice sophistry. Nothing good in the Muslim countries can be credited to Bush; only things bad.
